Being a scientist is just about the best job in the world (except for being gynecologist to the rich, famous, and petite) because you spend all day studying the sexual habits of the African Tetse Fly, prehistoric hats, and dinosaur shit (very little of which actually exists). Recently, some hardworking Austrians discovered that dogs have morals and other human behavioral characteristics. That's the last thing I need: my dog judging me for all the horrible, despicable things that she sees in my apartment.
How did these brave scientists make such an earth-shattering breakthrough? Making the dogs play "paw!" and playing recorded bark noises all day on endless loop. I'm not shitting you, read the article: they really did that. In exchange, they (the scientists; the dogs were probably tossed in the furnace) get to go to Budapest to play paw with other prominent dogscientists, sip Daiquiris in the pool (I assume they have those in Budapest) and sample the local hookers. All in the hallowed name of science.
Things have really changed from when I was younger and doing my research assistant thing. We never did anything cool like that. We mainly attached electrodes and weights to each other's balls and tortured each other while the cameras rolled. But the money was good! Even if that dirty old warehouse was real drafty at times..
Leading dogscientists agree that you should read on for our weekend suggestions.
Thursday:
Money Shot - Subway Series at The Vagabond. NYC DJs Morsy and Cobra Krames battling it out. Additonal sounds by Contra and the Deuce crew. Vagabond is located at 30 N.E. 14th Street.
Friday:
Fracture at White Room. Fracture returns. Still free, still open bar 10-11 and the first five minutes of every hour thereafter. House and hip hop in downtown Miami. White Room is located at 1306 North Miami Ave.
Saturday - strongest I've seen in a while:
Dirty Bird Wedding at Shine in the Shelbourne. The Martin Brothers Christian Martin & Justin Martin come to Miami for a DirtyBird Wedding at Shine. Trashy underground thing. These guys totally rocked when FutureMob brought them to Vagabond. Listen out for Copious. Presented by Musical Missionary and the Shelborne Hotel, located at 1801 Collins Avenue.
Victor Calderon at Space. First ever Space performance. During my previous life as a house head, this guy was god of tribal. Weird rules from Wantickets though: "The Before 1am ticket is only good Before 1am. If you arrive after 1am you will have to pay an additional fee." Space is located at 34 NE 11th Street in Downtown Miami.
Biz Markie at Parkwest Nightclub. Biz Markie performs a special DJ set. That sounds interesting doesn't it? Park West is located at 30 NE 11th Street.

Just thinking about it makes me want to douse myself in body glitter, raid the gas station for Blow Pops and send my serotonin levels haywire.
