Updated: Weekend Roundup, Pretty People Edition

Ahhh Miami, our sometimes-beloved home, land of fire-spitting Lamborghinis (on 395 no less) and contrived stereotypes. Recently an online poll was conducted (clearly by someone with too much time on their hands) among 125,000 people which asked them to rate how hot the residents of various cities were. We won. I guess it's lucky for us that the crew of CSI: Miami, Nip/Tuck and Burn Notice never shoot west of NW 2nd Ave, because if they did the hulking ghettofab greasemonsters (example at left) that reside in that sector would surely ruin our rep among the clueless masses.

So what do us supposedly pretty people do when our paychecks just came in and we're feeling a bit restless? We party until the brink of death.

Read on for recommendations certified by only the most beautiful people. Just kidding, only certified by us. As an aside, please note how I carefully avoided making any mention of our current economic state.

Update: SMAC is launching a new Sunday party this weekend; details inside!

As usual lately, nothing special this Thursday. Hi guys people go out that night.

i appreciate you guys pushing local bands. modernage has been around for a handful of years and the new ep is really good stuff. they should've used the new song mix on the video, tho. crossing fingers fashionista will make their way back one day...

don't know about paying $25 to see aoki. he was cool back in the day but lately...

hey, no The Crumbs love? they're playing Churchill's saturday. i guess i'm showing my age on that one. does anyone even remember them anymore? their bad luck story is similar to the brian jonestown massacre one. talented punks doomed to never succeed. sigh.
I remember them but we don't focus on punk, drum and bass and rock aside from indie rock. I just don't know enough about it.

no difference. not too keen on the new lineup. keep up the good work, fellas.

and pay no mind at my off and on jabs at you guys. much love from nemo.

btw, afrobeta at vagabond tonight.
Not to be a dick, but I wouldn't consider Herc and Love Affair to be house music at all, like not even close.

It's DISCO. Straight up, genuine disco. Show it to your parents, they'll agree.
Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?
Cuz there's no relationship between disco and house, at all.

That shit ain't disco dawg.
pop lock and drop it
I was upset when I wrote that. I apologize.

Wikipedia says literally "Most reviewers comment on the album's musical style as an homage to or re-imagining of disco and classic house music." so I guess we're both right.

I still think the disco-y aspect of it is the more recognizable feature of the music. I guess we'll see tonight.
