Talkin' smack

Apparently the staff at ignore magazine has a problem with our site, which I don’t even know why, it’s not like we are direct competitors. This is of course a clear case of people putting down other people to make themselves feel better and in turn be the “badass" site that everyone loves to hate. Thanks to Critical Miami for bringing this up.

They update once a month? Damn, that ain't a blog, it's an afterthought.

Keep up the good work, guys.
It wouldn't be considered successful without a bunch of haters.
Who cares.
We rule.
And another thing:
Who calls thier magazine ignore.
That's really reader friendly.
Welcome to the club. We have our squad of haters too. It's a good sign if someone takes the time out of the day to hate on you.
i saw it on CriticalMIA and thought what they said was funny. perhaps you're taking it out of context. at least your site is getting around when other local sits mention it. Do they get more hits than you? I know that site probably gets a fair share, based on the number of people who have mentioned it at my work. If so, they're really not out of line. You guys are just as snarky, but I'm really liking it so far.
The "claim" to have received 1 million hits on day in July, I'd like to see the proof though. Then again, the article that got them the hits was about Miami Vice, so a lot of people were probably searching stuff on the movie during that time any way. I wouldn't be surprised if they are back down to 1 hit a day.

Only babies who feel ignored scream for attention.

Long live Miami Nights!
It looks like ignore is correct. If you know about these things (and you run a website so you should) it takes two seconds all you need to do is check Alexa. According to Alexa, ignore had a major traffic at what I presume was their last update, and it looks like it was easily one million - which is a shitload if you know about these things, especially for what's a really bare site with no presumable advertising. Based on Alexa Links, from what's been posted on their site in the past and Wikipedia, they've got ties to Gawker, Perez Hilton, The Miami Herald and were featured on VH1. Without updating for a month as Critical Miami, they're now ranked just outside of the top 1,000,000 sites, you guys are ranked somewhere around...5,000,000. Critical Miami seems to have more daily traffic than ignore, but doesn't have the reach. I'm not sure if ignore is based in Miami, but it has a good amount of national reach outside miami, and that's obvious from the hit demographics. I could go on, but what's the point?
Hey maybe some of that ignore traffic will find it's way to Miami Nights. Hey ignore if I say 'fuck you' will you link us again?
"Apparently the staff at ignore magazine has a problem with our site, which I don’t even know why, it’s not like we are direct competitors."

That's right. Why compare apples to oranges? Are people blind? Rankings are a moot point because Miami Nights and ignore are two totally different types of publications.

I am not saying one is better than the other. I'm just sick of the sillyness and mock-competitiveness among blogs when they're really needn't be any. Ignore is out of line. Where's the love, people?
hey. i'm outside of miami, but i read both ignore and now i read miami nights to know what's going on. ignore is known at my office, and people tend to dig it. i ike miaminights.com. it's less-faux hip than it used to be. anyway, ignore is fucking snarky. if this was nyc, you'd just snark back in good fun. that's what blogs do. then again, in miami you guys might shoot each other. peace from new york.
i personally like how their site says "quality smack" atleast when they picked Miami Nights to talk about, they chose a site with a touch of class :)
why so offended? i'm the KING of being snarky, bitchy and offensive. yet ive restrained myself on this site because ive decide its not my own best interest as a freelance writer. last thing i need is to lose out of a job because of things ive posted here, especially since i dont have the veil of anonymity to protect me, unlike the ignore post who was simply written by "ignore Staff."

thats not to say i wont trash anyone who deserves it on this site, i mean the objective of this site is to tell you what things we think are good to do in miami and what things you should avoid. i mean the issue brought up on the post was with Jean Carey at the Miami New Times, how we got involved is beyond me. obviously it was the blogger's attempt to be "snarky" but in reality it makes them look like an ass.

Okay. So ignore basically said that they get more hits than you do (big whup, i know, but if it's true, they're no less for boasting) and that you guys are lacking advertisers for a "blog empire" (i don't know if this is the case). I didn't see one thing criticizing your content. Then your site tells them to "fuck off," calls them an "ass," and says they're not popular (which, they are for what they are - a youthful trend-type site for miami). That should settle it. Again, from my view as an outsider in nyc, your site overreacted, not their site. Maybe you're just not familar with them or you're new to blogging, but I don't think their magazine even said anything directly negative about your site. I agree that how your got involved is confusing, but so what. It's the blogging landscape and it's competitive and fun.
whatever im over it at this point. right now we have a free link at ignore. and if the traffic they claim to have is true, it can only mean good things for Miami Nights :)

15 comments compared to the usual one or none. Not too shabby, MiamiNights. I'd say it's already working.
Why so offended: when I said 'fuck you' in my previous comment I did no want it to seem like I was offended. I was mearly trying to shake something up with Ignore to get more linkage love. If anything I thought it was a nice play on words on behalf of the 'ignore staff'. Cheers.
Whoaaa who the fuck could talk about Ignore's traffic as if it ain't shit?

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ignoremagazine.com%2F

Their ranking has fallen 90% over the past three months. Compare to the flagship of our network:

http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.destructoid.com%2F

2,600th busiest site on the web. Suck a dick.

Interestingly, all the staff names in Ignore are fake (no one names their kid Svengali), and so are the articles.. makes ya think.
pop lock and drop it
the alexa ranking for miaminights.com is as pasted.

Traffic Rank for miaminights.com: 4,969,664

and for the other guys...

Traffic Rank for ignoremagazine.com: 1,313,525

I could give two shits, but since "lackner" is obviously delusional. and the other site hasn't updated in a long-ass time.
they never fail to amuse me.
