Now I'm no afterhours junkie. In fact, everytime I've been tricked into going to an afterhours spot, I come to regret it instantly the moment I arrive. It's an ungodly hour to be drinking and dancing.
Anyway, I'm seeing the fliers for the new afterhours at Parkwest, which it states "Space terrace afterhours has moved." Now, like I said I'm no afterhours expert, but isn't the reason people go to Space and Nocturnal's afterhours is because they have terraces? I mean wasn't one of myriad of reasons Twilo closed because it couldn't compete in the afterhours scene because it lacked a terrace?
I'm not going to provide much of my opinion here because I may not know the whole story here and again its not really my scene, but anyone feel free to enlighten me, particularly if you frequent the afterhour circuit. What do you think about the move?

Now I don't have complaints on enclosed after hours party's but the charm of the terrace was always compelling. Will the people who wake up simply for afterhours enjoy the change? I'm sure it won't stop them but the allure of being outside will be gone..
Lackner mentioned there was a stairway leading from Parkwest to the Space Terrace. If that's the case would it be smart to have both after hours going? Having two completely different styles of electronic music going? Or is that too much area to fill?
I lived at The Mix every Sat. and Sun. morning, and every night of WMC. And I say this as I shed some tears....R.I.P. El Mixeo.
The reason my afterhours adventures were haulted was SPECIFICALLY because of the introduction of terraces. FUCK THAT SHIT! The very essence of an afterhours club is just that, to stay IN the club. That includes darkness, lights, and a blinding sun upon your exit. Now I will frequent the terrace when there is some sort of special occasion, usually a birthday or someone comes into town begging me to go. You wanna see sun, go to fucking Nikki Beach!
Sorry I just really miss The Mix. ;D
Mix :)
Space's primo terrace time has and always will be Sunday mornings, outside of conference. Those of you who figured out who I am, know I'm camped out there about every weekend. Even on a 'slow' morning, they have the crowd up there numbers and money-wise that most other clubs would kill for even during normal hours.
What I see here is that possibly they did not want to split their afterhours crowd into two mornings. Right now, Sundays still go strong, and they figured they might as well leave it alone rather than dilute the crowd.
Moving it to Parkwest, you still get afterhours, you get the "Mix-like" (I was there waaaay too much back in the day too) indoor environment, and at the end of the day, the money still ends up in the same people's pockets that run Space.
Win-win I say. A little more too because you can get some leftover crowd from Rehab and the Friday night events at Parkwest. Figure maybe an extra 100 or so people who stick around.
Of course, at the end of the day there's plenty of things that might make this not last too long. Smart money is on some longevity here. But what do I know, I hear on the grapevine that I'm a drug addict/alcoholic and should have been sent to the real rehab a long time ago.
Sunday Morning = Space Terrace (continuing)
the newer friday nights/saturday mornings at space were slower from what i'd seen, and only the terrace was open anyway. i don't think people cared all that much when they knew they could just go the next night and have a better time. This is a way for them to differentiate their afterhours so it doesn't become repetitive and still make money. and monday morning is afterhours at rehab also?
