Short is the Lady's M.O.

I’m still hung-over thinking about this past Friday. MiamiNights rolled through the Nicole Miller Fashion Show. I was accompanied by our resident stud muffin, B.A.C. A lady always likes to show up to a party with cuteness in toe. The fashion show was held at Pearl, Nikki Beach's nighttime sister. The clothing was great. Lots of long dresses – perfect for our tall, blessed-with-stature readers. Shorter counterparts, like myself, would have had to hire a tailor. I dig long. But long don’t dig on me. I look like a soccer mom in a potato sack. However, with Nicole Miller's collection, any of the dresses could have been altered easily without loosing any of their magic. The fabrics were airy and light. The color was muted a bit – except for that puke green number that showed up towards the end of the fashion show. Puke green, believe or not, is this season’s “it” color. According to Wikipedia puke green’s real name is olive drab. Wow! Olive drab sounds like a party. Personally "olive drab" washes me out. It also reminds me of split pea soup. split pea soup/olive drab/puke green can be worn (and looks sensational) on those of us with darker complexions, tan skin and those with olive skin undertones.

I also saw a bit of Roberto Cavailli in Nicole Miller. But the majority of the show was dedicated to Grecian goddess – which is a bit last year – mixed with a dap (and I do mean a sprinkle) of Michelle Phieffer a la Scarface.

A footnote for all you fashionistas: adding the Michelle Phieffer/Scarface influence to any designer collection is like adding oregano to tomato sauce. It just works any way you cut it. Go check out Gwen Stefani’s new L.A.M.B. collection and you will understand what I’m talking about. And for those of you reading this who haven’t seen Scarface – rent it right now because MP will blow your mind!

the lamb site has no photography wtf
pop lock and drop it
You can go on FTV.COM to see the LAMB show, but you have to sign up for the website and it takes forever. I guess GOOGLE will be the way to go. Gwen's commented that her inspiration for her currant collection was MP a la Scarface. If you see the ads, she's a dead ringer.

Cheers! Thanks for reading
