I'm qualifying this as a rumor until I hear it from a confirmed source. Anyway, talk about the New York transplant club Twilo being closed has been swirling on a another website. Here at Miami Nights we've tried contacting Twilo representatives to no avail.
I had the chance to stop by Twilo once for an Art Basel party, and I was blown away with the intricate lighting and amazing sound system. If in reality Twilo is closed, its mistakes were pretty obvious. Can one here mention what the parties at Twilo were or who DJ'ed there? No? Well that's because Twilo's marketing was virtually nonexistent. Now you could argue that Twilo wasn't your "scene," but Space and Nocturnal aren't places I frequent very often -- unless at 6 a.m. drunk off my ass -- but I can tell you what is going on there despite that. Also it promoted heavily to a gay clientele leading clubbers to believe Twilo was a gay club (I mean it was, wasn't it?) not a dance music club.
One could argue too that this is another case of New Yorkers thinking they know what Miami wants. When are they going to learn we really aren't the sixth borough? I do think Miamians are smarter than to accept a rehash of a club that came and went in New York.
Anyway, if anyone knows any more information, please keep me posted.
