Review: MSTRKRFT @ Rokbar, Canada's Little Freak Nasty
Music Stars
Last night at Rokbar was sooo hectic. Ooooh Rokbar, you tiny little hot box of a whore you. I love you and I hate you. Was it just me or did they forget to turn the AC on? Thank you for MSTRKRFT though. Their set was so tight. I seriously could not stop dancing. I think I lost 10 pounds (all in the ass area).
I spoke to Al-P just before they hoped on the ax. and he informed me they were gonna do a bit of a time warp, kick it back a bit and drop some high-waist-ed funky pants disco and then get hard and shit. I was like, "OK, work it out, you'll excuse me while I dance the heart attack-away."
I love the fact that they basically do their cues old skool style with the vinyl option in Serato. The music selection was this crazy bombastic symphony of some of the most beautiful electronic noise imaginable. Traxxs that we're familiar and the traxxs that were foreign to me, which is good. 'Cause who wants to hear the same ole bull shit, RIGHT? It's not a PROM -- IT'S MSTRKRFT, casting their audio spell making you dance like a cracked out whore until the wee hours of the morning!
So what time did YOU get home last night? *SMIRK*
Internet Killed the Video Star
I have to admit, sometimes I have to fight the geek in me and keep that shit under wraps. But then there are those times like this when Its hard to fight it. Kinda like this Cylob' traxx "Rewind". This traxx isn't new. It came out in the late '90s. DMX Krew is a big fan of this UK producer and has a few decent remixes of this traxx and few others I believe. I like to think of this video as interpreted dance performance piece Jedi Mind Trick style?
