Miami Nights

Well it's been a long time coming for this review. As many of our readers may already know we tend to avoid the beach like the plague. Lackner on occasion feels messianic and traverses the bay to the beach but it's very rare and only when there is a special on Gefilte fish and horseradish sauce at his favorite Jewish eatery...But thats besides the point of this review. As many of you know Bella Rose is partially owned by Alfred Spellman, the producer behind Cocaine Cowboys 1 and 2 (Our invitation must have gotten lost for the premier of #2).

The redecoration of the venue is noticeable from the outside in. With frosted windows and white curtains blocking the view along with new awnings Bella Rose looks nothing like the former cracked out, drive by galore Boom Boom Room. The seating arrangements inside remain the same with new decorations above the bar, paintings hanging form every possible open spot and bloody bathrooms. Overall a good makeover with plenty of energy and sluttery (new word) in the limited space.

Here are my only 2 qualms with the evening. For one when I ordered two drinks and handed my debit card to the bar tender he gave me the look I got back in AD 32 when I was a member of the leper commune in Jerusalem. He said "Cash only". The only thing I could do was scoff when he said I had to walk to Lincoln and take out money if I wanted to drank. Psh. And secondly the bass in the room was deafening. Normally this is an excellent attribute however this bass was crackly and distorted. Was is the sound system or the DJ not listening to his levels? I think it was a combination of both. Can anyone answer why they weren't accepting credit cards? Anyhow the venue looks good and is worth a visit, if Sundays are always like that then I would recommend you ignore your state of mind Monday morning and get wasted on Sunday at Bella Rose.
