Review: Adam Freeland @ Shine
The Global Underground North American Tour this past Friday was an extraordinary opportunity to check out one of UK's finest. The warm-up crew was on point and kept it hard and dirty. Conway dropped a local production I was unfamiliar with that I was like, "That’s hot, who's that?" Get back to me on that one Conway! And there was a substantial crowd that danced until about 4:30 a.m.
I wanted MORE PEOPLE though. Check it, Global Underground are world famous DJs playing to tens of thousands -- well okay thousands, in places like Mexico City. Last time I checked this was the United State’s favorite little Third World city. So what the fuck?
This event was a trustworthy endorsement. And if you thought you were tooo hung over to show up to Shine (Yes, Shine, which by the way, their bartenders there pour some stiff ass drinks, I was drunk by my second fucktail and completely sloppy by 2 a.m.). But anyways don’t change the subject. Where was I? -- Oh yeah! so if you thought you were too hung over or couldn’t find something cool to wear and couldn’t show up, well my friend YOU dropped the 8-ball on the white bear skin rug!
It was a good time though. Adam opened up with Justice’s "Phantom" and the crowd went coo coo. Talk about an intro; I had to step back. Other highlights were Tom Vek, Oliver Huntemann and Mr. Oizo’s newest "Haft An Edit." I mention to Adam that I love Mr. Oizo and he commented that Mr. Oizo is one of those producers that sort of sets the pace for electronic music and everyone follows.
All four artists and much more are available on Mr. Freeland's Mexico City GU32 Comp disc. So yeah check it out! 'Cause Adam Freeland knows what the fuck is up!
