Reason why OpenFormatBottleServiceLounges should go away

Ok, so it's not that I hate all bottle service/vip table.. etc...  What annoys me is when amazing venues start catering to only that style of service thus limiting the fun to be had.  I get it that not everyone likes to dance in a big crowd, and some poeple would rather be sectioned off for their own party.  If that's the case then why go out?  Isn't the point to hear awesome music, dance around, meet new people, and have fun?  After my last foray onto the Beach this past 4th of July weekend I began to take note on reasons why these places are never as fun as I hoped:

1. The tables are littered throughout the venue in such abundance that they take up valuable dance floor space as well as walkways, making it nearly impossible to have fun or move around and much less dance.

2. I work all week, why would I want to pour my own drink?

3. The bartenders at some of these places seem so annoyed when you ask them to pour you a drink.

4. Paying $400+ for a bottle typically worth $50.00 (and I'm higballing here people) of whatever booze is RETARDED!!!

Can we all lighten up and get back to just having fun without the pretense- or make damn sure we get that table next time.

I think this is a major contributing reason why Karu & Y closed. Too many tables, and not enough room for "normal" people. Given the current state of the economy, I would suggest to club owners out there: reduce your number of VIP tables and mark up the cost to reserve them. There are plenty of rich people around who don't care if they pay $400 a bottle or $600 a bottle. They just want to feel important and they attach no price to that. In a recession, Joe Blow finds it hard to justify blowing the equivalent of a car payment on a bottle of liquor that would normally cost him $30, so adjust your business model accordingly.

I never understood the bottle thing either. Paid or (thankfully) comped, I find it more trouble than just drinking at the bar, and honestly I hate having to worry about who's drinking at my table when I'm not there, wanting a drink that I can't prepare with the stuff I have, spilling all over the place, wondering where the waitress went, etc., to say nothing of the false economy of the situation (there are supposedly 32 drinks in a bottle - joke). Give me drink tickets instead.
pop lock and drop it
Yeah, you *must* appoint a bottle defender (or bottlesitter) whenever you're at a table. That's a notch above being designated driver, but since those don't really exist, it's like being designated driver. And we all know how shameful it is to be designated driver.

Amen drink tickets!
gimme a beat!
A bottle defender is much the same as the Keg Captain or as I like to call em Cerberus. You get to decide who drinks and who doesn't. I think that's that only perk. Other than drinking the whole bottle yourself while everyone is off dancing.
I am the eggman
Bottle service is a joke. Of course, since everyone knows it is a joke, it is now firmly entrenched on the premise of individuals fully aware that they are being ripped off and laughing it off "I can afford to waste my money, look at me!"
Sorry, but I don't drink ironically.
The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.
Bottle service is obviously crap. As crap as it is, it will never disappear. It is a business, and as long as there are guys out there trying to flaunt their money, they will continue.
Bottle service is so fucking gay (not in the homosexual sense, but in the colloquial, "stupid" sense). Bottle, or so-called "VIP" service is like advertising in NFL games- its way too widespread and increasingly annoying. Both NFL broadcasters and club managers should do the same thing- jack up the prices to rates so exorbitant that (a) the people willing to pay it will be indeed "special" (if only in their own, wasteful minds) and (b) it will limit the ubiquitiousness of this shit.
I think it's retarded....unless I'm on the receiving end of a comped bottle, then it's great. If youaren't already the comped bottle guy then you know someone who is and take full advantage of him. We all know bottle service is for jackass tourists and overly rich people who aren't famous enough or connected enough to get comped.
I have no shame in drinkin my comped bottle of house vodka.
No need for that bottle defender at my table, my friends drink too fast. I do apologize if my drunk friends stole your abonded bottle though.
I guess I'm in the minority but I don't really enjoy myself unless someone I know has a table I can go chill at when I don't feel like being in middle of the shit. I can't be on the dance floor the entire time; it's too hectic.

Some places do it better than others. I agree it's not really worth the cost, but if I'm not paying or just contributing it's not that bad.
"Ahh, she's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro."
There is no more valuable dance space. I have to climb a mini mount everest over tables, chairs, and couches just to breathe much less move. :( me unhappy
