Post-Basel Badness

There have been all sorts of mixed feelings about the imprint Basel leaves on our smelly shores. I think I may be guilty in accepting to much of it where an air of disgust would have been more appropriate. Talking to JS earlier today, he explained that the canon of art education these days dismisses no one and validates everything. Not nearly enough art professors are riding their students to a borderline suicidal stress level, where nothing they do is good, you know, like the good ol' days. We, as a culture of creatives need more artistic roughhousing. moving on..

When I was at scope I snatched a couple of the "NYARTS" publications, a pretty awesome edition, showcasing "600 best websites in the universe". A bold claim, but so far I have found wonderful new voices online. Today i recommend ART FAG CITY's coverage on the Basel fairs, spread through about 10 posts. A take no prisoners approach to the mess in our local artstain and a very solid alternative to the coverage Critical Miami has brought. The blog (artfagcity), is not unlike a gay, scenester little brother to the big and ever so jaded ARTBLOG.net. The site has found its place on my rss (right under art blog where it belongs) and I feel like sharing.

In other news, I'm sick of trying to post multiple pictures and its too late to put up so many Basel shots, so I'll just post individual pictures from last week I don't want to go to waste.
