Photography

Putting together an incredible event? Make sure no one forgets; capture the evening with incredible photography.

We utilize the latest in Canon professional digital photography equipment and a variety of lens to deliver clear, crisp images suitable for publication in any format (10 megapixel, printable up to 12x10). We postprocess with Adobe Lightroom to produce consistent, high quality images. You receive two DVDs of the shoot (one for your office, one for your safe deposit box).

Rates from $150 per evening. You retain 100% ownership of the photos, though we request permission to add them to our portfolio and optionally to the Miami Nights archives - and besides, who doesn't need the publicity? Our galleries average from 5,000 to 20,000 page views depending on the event. Not only is this a perfect way to capture your event but also a great PR move as shown by the amount of page views our galleries generate.

Here are some examples of our recent photo galleries:

Gallery: Wynwood Second Saturdays w/ Freegums, Hexagon and Diet Gallery

Last night was pretty fucking insane. The parties were great even if the turnouts weren't stellar. Poplife at White Room was packed! I mean it was impossible to move and the line for the girls' bathroom was about a 30-minute wait. Bronques of lastnightsparty.com did make an appearance, and I took my opportunity to chat with him. He's a super nice guy and seemed pretty happy to be documenting Miami's Downtown scene, probably because his last few Miami galleries have all been in and around South Beach. I told him I was glad he was back to doing what he did best: taking pictures of camera-obsessed hipsters. He did take quite a few pictures of me, some of which in ordered me to look angry, which isn't hard for me to do, people are always pissing me off. Another where me and my friend Berna posed, er, well, I guess you could call it seductively.

Oh and word to the wise, a cardigan paired up with Miami humid does not equal fun times not matter how good you look. I learned that last night.

WMC Gallery: Random WMC Goodness

You didn't think we'd be done with the WMC photo madness. That's what happens when you are backlogged. Anyway, we had another snazzy photographer all the way from London town. Holler at Mike Jones' MySpace if you like what you see.

Photos are from a bunch of places like Bass Sessions 2 at Nocturnal, The Windish Agency Pool Party at the South Seas Hotel, Fool's Gold Party at White Room, in-stores at Puma and Armani Exchange and much more!

Gallery: The return of BED

It was with trepidation that we approached the grand reopening of BED on Halloween weekend. It's no secret that we here at Miami Nights we tend to behave like walk-on characters in Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome and that means we aren't allowed in pretty clean places with our grubby paws. Plus, I have this weird personal vendetta against the bottle service-oriented trend that clubs on the Beach are experience lately.

But when we got there at 3am (oops), I realized something fundamental. I had forgotten how Ross One can rock a party. I forgot that, hey, the cute girls tend to follow the bottle. Those downtown trolls with their weatherbeaten faces and awkwardly dangling body parts were nowhere to be seen. It was a great time.

If you haven't checked it out by now, go soon. A lil' bebe gallery is attached to give you an idea of what goes on.

Gallery: Misfit Fridays @ Studio A, Last Two Weeks Edition

Have you been wondering what's been going on at Misfit Fridays @ Studio A for the past couple of weeks? If you've been there, skip the next paragraph..

You probably heard about Britney Spears giving birth to the still-born alien child in the alley. And I'm sure you heard the thing about Lex stealing the white Shetland pony and riding him all around the club -- that little stunt was in all the papers. But what you may not have heard is that Molly and I entered the Mr. PoodleTime dog show and we won for best son and daughter Aristocrats rendition. I'm a dirty dawggggg. WOOF!

Anyway, Tommie Sunshine tomorrow. That man is a beast. He wears a bulletproof vest when he DJs because other DJs are so envious of his abilities that they often try to kill him. Also, his hair is made out of a unicorn's mane and rainbows.

Positions in Context: 2007 Grants Program Exhibition

Opening this Thursday night at Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation is The Positions in Context: 2007 Grants Program Exhibition.  Each year the  CIFO board of directors  reward grants to 10 or so emerging Latin American artists giving them a good exposure stateside (or at least... Miami-side).  Each artists proposal is put into effect and the space is transformed into a group exhibition of solo and collaborative works spread out through the enormous space with sculpture, video, installation, sound arts and maybe a painting or two... Im not sure.

This years roster of lucky Latin bastards to receive the reward are:

Alberto Baraya (Colombia), Fredi Casco (Paraguay), Donna Conlon (Panama), Adriana García Galán (Colombia), Renata Lucas (Brazil), Luis Molina-Pantin (Venezuela), Angel Poyon (Guatemala), collaborators Cecilia Szalkowicz & Gastón Pérsico (Argentina), Emilio Valdés (Mexico), and Hector Zamora (Mexico)

CIFO only really has 5 shows a year, with the grants program and the basel show being of most significance. They aren't in sync at all with the Wynwood art walks second saturday schedule (in part their location being dead center park west) and don't do much promotion other that a handful of personally mailed invites, surely only to major collectors the big fish in the art scene.  You might notice on their exhibition page that the Grants exhibition is said to start the 21st. Pay no mind to that, direct sources confirmed this big bang "invite only" (if you know you're invited) is on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 in the evening. Expect major glitz quality, catering and cocktails. CIFO doesn't slack when it comes to Opening nights given there small slew of big ass shows. They regularly draw a crowd of 300-400 people so get there early if you plan to park and not walk through too much crack town or if you don't like a thick crowd in between you and your complimentary liquor.

Gallery: Saturdays @ O Asian Grill, Familiar Faces Edition

For years innumerable, ever since I got back from 'Nam, I've been plagued by seeing familiar faces everywhere I go, unable to remember who they are, why they're stuck in some peripheral useless part of my brain. When we started taking photos it got even worse: hundreds of 30-second interactions with people (almost) every night of the week, one social transaction after another, blurring together, a cloud of unknowns. This was worse last Saturday than ever before. I think it's part of my slow descent into the chasm of insanity and uncontrollable paranoia.

After careful research, I've concluded that drinking five or six glasses of champagne in a row doesn't seem to solve this problem.

Thanks to the crowd for not being so repulsive I have to delete all of the photos and cry myself to sleep. You sexy people, I love you, in an abstract, hands-off kinda way.

30 second review: Last Friday we checked out this, the first of many new nights coming to the reopened Grass Lounge in the Miami Design District. The crowd was attractive, people with bright futures and stuff like that, though I would like to see more champagne popping causing ladychaos. The owners seem to have taken some welcome steps to alleviate the incredible heat, such as adding more fans and a liquid nitrogen system that sprays directly from the roof of the covered patio area. I await the opening of the new inside areas -- that should be pretty wild.

Wynwood Happens, Tonight...

Many openings to be had. The summer season hiatus is waning and many have flocked back to town. New faces in new Places and other exciteness about.

New to Wynwood this summer is Harold Golem gallery. Hopefully the pink banner I gave him is up and his space is easy to find. He will be inaugurating his gallery tonight with a spicy group show. Hopefully his place is here to stay. Be sure to welcome his new space with your face inside it.

Back round the chunky thickness that is 20-28 st Wynwood, the classic heavy hitters will be coming strong with the usual cloud of openings, those of interest being;

@ Fred Snitzer: False Start - A concise solo show by Timothy Buwalda has got some serious photorealism in your face.

@ David Castillo: Real Time - Featuring Nayef Homsi and Monika Zarzeczna new works by the artists in their respective rooms. (duo solo showness!)

@ Dorsch Gallery: What makes a boy start fires? (Kyle Trowbridge) aside Variations on a theme (Johnny Sanchez) another duo solo presenting paintings, projections, installation and   smelly exploded car(s) and me giving you grolsch if you get there early, so show up!

@ Moca (Goldman warehouse) : Karen Kilimnik of which I have no idea what the show is but I love the flyer.

@ AntiKulture : Lindas Pesadillas- A solo show of new paintings by Alvaro Perez del Solar, the second night of a two night opening reception/gallery camp out.

 Informative flyers in extended.

Gallery: Pulp @ Club Czar, Tampa

Tampa bloody Tampa. I had zero expectations for you. In fact, I was thinking to myself "WTF am I doing driving on a dark back country road to get to Tampa for? Am I insane?" As these thoughts raced through my mind I barreled down the highway at speeds I do not want to remember trying to get to the hotel in time to shower and look pretty for my formal introduction to Kid Sister (Love that woman). Finally the journey came to an end after an arduous 5 hour drive, endless pit stops so the ladies could piss and buy food and for some strange reason trains at every freaking crossing. I never thought seeing the Hilton hotel would be such a welcome sight, a relief beyond orgasmic proportions. So the ladies and I get ready and realize it's already 11:30pm. So what right? It's still early. WRONG!! this isn't Miami, shit here closes at 3am (last call at 2:45am). So with valuable drinking and partying time dwindling we rush out to Ybor City and we encounter the first blight on Tampa.

You thought Miami had weirdos? We have white, black, hispanic crack heads roaming the streets but Tampa has strictly white wackos. See in Miami they ask you for money, booze or cigarettes. In Tampa they ask you random non-sensical questions like "Excuse me sir is my ass on fire?" or "Hey you tall boy stop floating, get of those rocks man!" I shit you not. Ybor must have a asylum nearby. On top of the crazy questions they are disrespectful. On several occasions they tried to touch or did touch the two ladies that accompanied me to Tampa. So next time a bum in Dtown or the Beach asks for some help be grateful you are not in Ybor.

Anyway to the party itself. Club Czar itself is a nice venue. Looking all decadent from the outside with fancy lettering I couldn't quite read. The moment we arrived we knew the place was packed. Droves of people waited outside on a typical humid night in Florida trying to get in and waiting patiently (unlike Miami) for he line to proceed. The club is separated into a bar area and the well sized main dance room. With a stage, massive bar and some weird looking mural things it looked rather like an abandoned 1940's hotel (no dust or mold though). Pase Rock was getting on the decks when I arrived and proceeded to turn the place upside down as the Tampa kids went wild. One peculiar thing I took immediate notice of was the fact that in Tampa they actually mark the underaged kids with GIANT black Sharpie X's on their hands. Nearly 3/4th of all the scene kids would slit their wrists if this happened in Miami, so sad. As the night progressed Kid Sister made the crowd yelp and holla with her beats and rhymes and Flosstradamus killed it with an amazing set. All in all the Tampa people welcomed the Miami Nights crowd with open arms and smiles. I gotta remember to thank Pauly Crush a thousand times more for the kind hospitality. Enjoy the gallery. Cheers!

Gallery: Favela Chic @ Mokai, Bryan Parties Alone Edition (Updated)

Favela Chic is perhaps the wildest night in Miami. Yes it's on a Tuesday but when you stroll up to Mokai at 2am and there's a crowd of drunk socialites clamoring to get into the hotspot you realize this thing is a monster (Thanks Maria love for the speedy entry). Generally I don't like to party alone. I prefer to be in a pack, like wolves, surrounding my prey before snapping the picture or dropping that one liner that gets me a black eye. But tonight I was left to fend for myself, completely alone, sober and nescient of the oncoming train that was about to dismantle my body. There's nothing like going out and not knowing a single person in the venue (well, I knew about 8 or 10 peeps but that's besides the point).

Immediately people were screaming out my name for me to take pictures, throwing themselves upon my camera lens as if I were Jesus passing out bread to a starving leaper colony. The people inside Mokai were going balls wild dancing, drinking, singing and being as debauch as a society can be. To top it off DJ Ross One was KILLING it with an amazing fucking set (more to come in a future post on Ross One). All in all arriving by myself and being mobbed by camera hungry beautiful people left me utterly wasted and trembling with fear about my next week at Favela Chic. Go party there, I command you to!

I thought it was a joke. I walk in, all happy (or maybe sad, I can't remember; if I could, I would be a journalist and not a blogger), ready to party, contact high from being in Mickey Avalon's esteemed presence, etc. I dive into the bar as I usually do, ready to coat my sadness with liquor, and then I stop, frozen, like those old ladies in the middle of the road right when they realize how close the grill of your late-80s Mercedes sedan is to their rusty walker.

"Trance. They are playing fucking trance," I think to myself desperately. I run to the nearest Greek Orthodox calendar to check the date (don't forget, next Tuesday is the Forefeast of the Holy Cross!) and make sure that I haven't somehow traveled back in time to 1999.

I'm ashamed of you people. How can you accumulate in public places like that, mob me like that, pay a fortune to hear trance? You wily drug addicts freak me out. Anyway, enjoy the pics. It was truly an interesting experience.

This party has taken on a life of its own. I had that moment where I realize I'm not needed, I'm just a pawn (no pun intended), a jester with a bar tab, the great weight of my ego toppling over on me causing me to nearly lose consciousness, smelling salts of various varieties rubbed under my nose to awaken me from the dreary slumber.

But it's a good party. Fuck formats and velvet rope, give me hip hop and teeny bopper JB hoes, awash in cheap parfum and precociousness.
