New Order & SpiderPussy!

SpiderPussy Tuesday Nights MiamiSo occasionally I get obsessed with a song. Like REALLY obsessed. To the point where I have to listen to it like everyday. I'll play it in the shower, I'll play it cleaning the apartment, I'll make popcorn and pop in some random sci-fi fantasy and play it with the audio turned off. Then I fantasize how I'd play it to a crowded dance floor. And for whatever reason it's ALWAYS some '80s or early '90s track!

The last couple of obsessions were Aha's "Take On Me" (best video ever!), Slick Rick's "Mona Lisa" (best drum loops ever!) and Echo & the Bunnymen's "Killing Moon" (which saw a fun revival in the Donnie Darko Soundtrack). I'd like to think that the"electronic-pop format" was solidified in the '80s and just can't be fucked with.

So today's lucking winner is "True Faith" by New Order. First you have the spectacular drum introduction.  Followed by the synths leading you into the harmony. Let's not forget the ill ass lyrics "I use to think that the day would never come" and killer vocals.

The current obsession has me listening to my New Order records too. "Bizarre Love Triangle" has always been a sure fire thing to get 'em to the dance floor.  Once you hear that drum roll calling your ass to the floor you can't help but dance your self into a sweaty Teen-Beat lovin' frenzy.

The kids at SpiderPussy (if by kids I mean the one and only Andrews) asked me to be get involved in the night. I'll be helping to hold down the fort ensuring you drunk-ass-mother-fuckers are having fun. And helping to drop some hot electro-indie-pop as well. I'm thinking of themeing my set this Tuesday with New Order.  Mixing it in with current stuff of course. You'd be surprise how many fun tracks one can find. Not to mention all the new nu rave style mixes too.  They also have a lot of straight up original dansy instrumental beats too! So drop by this Tuesday, show us some love and let me get your SpiderPussy wet!

P.S. Mark your calendar for Low B of Hollertronix bringing that Phili sound to Spiderpussy June 26 @ PS14 (28 NE 14 St, Downtown Miami a few block from Pawn Shop). Click here for flier...
