Q: If i may ask, because I figured you would be the people to ask. What is there to do Friday Nights. I have been out of the loop way to long. I'm headed to Miami soon. Please Help =] thank you. -Michelle 2/12/07
A: It depends on what kind of music/scene you are into. Friday nights though include Revolver at Studio A with a touch of Nocturnal Afterhours because we shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car even at 5 a.m. Also there is Off the Radar at PS 14 (although, don't get there early, because it is DEAD even at midnight), and our new favorite place in the whole entire world Circa 28 in Wynwood. - Duran 2/12/07
Q:Hey… Just wanted to know if you knew how/where to get tickets to the Brazilian Girls show February 15..I believe they are playing at Cameo or Mansion Thanks!!! -Caroline 1/31/07
A:The Cameo Web site still has no information on how to get tickets, actually it has no information at all. We checked Wanttickets.com and they don't have it scheduled. Let me do some research and I'll get back to you. UPDATE: The tickets will be available on Wantickets.com next Tuesday (2/6/07). -B.A.C. 2/2/07
Q: I'm actually heading down to miami this weekend with some friends from Chicago. We're renting a studio on Collins from someone who lives in Miami who referred me to your website. We'd like to know what clubs would be good to check out on friday, sat, and sun. I've heard of Prive, and a couple other places but was told that we would probably have to purchase tables to get in being that we're a group of a few guys. Any suggestions?? Thanks - Joe
A: Yes, there is Prive, which is part of the Opium Group of nightclubs, which in includes as well Mansion and Opium Gardens. I don't know how selective Chicago clubs are but Prive, Mansion and Opium Gardens can be HIGHLY selective especially if you are just one big group of guys. If you want to get in quicker, my rule is to usually have a group that consists two girls for every guy. Other venues worth checking out are Snatch, Rokbar and Mokai, these are all located on the beach and any taxi driver should know where they are. Here are what I consider some of the best places for each night of the week: Friday: Pawn Shop, Rokbar, Suite, Skybar @ the Shoreclub, Twilo, Nocturnal (Afterhours starting at 4 a.m.) Saturday: Prive, Opium Gardens, Social Miami @ the Sagamore, SceneWolf at Studio A, Space Sundays: Mansion, Mokai Also remember, if you buy a bottle you are more likely to get pass the velvet ropes quicker. On the downside you might be paying $300 for a $20 bottle of Absolut. Rule of thumb in South Beach, you better be dressed well, be surrounded by women or know someone if you want to get in quickly, if not they are going to keep you waiting or you might not get in at all.
Q: We're all in our mid-twenties and we like salsa, merengue, and good 'ole house music n hip hop. Is that what they play at most of the places in Miami? Also we're renting a car, but if we go into Downtown Miami..would it be better to just cab it? What does a cab ride like that usually cost?? - Rick
A: From my understanding, the best club for that is Bongos which is located in Downtown Miami right next to the American Airlines Arena and La Covacha (which is a bit out of the way in Doral). Miami is mostly hip-hop and house music, so you should be fine. Although check out some of the clubs playing the new French electro-house movement; it's AMAZING. No offense to where your coming from, but I think house music has a new leader. Places you could check that style out is Santo on Fridays, SceneWolf at Studio A on Saturdays, Aquabooty at Pawn Shop on Saturdays, possibly Nocturnal Afterhours at 4 a.m. Saturday morning and Space Afterhours 4 a.m. Sunday morning. You probably want to take a cab from the Beach to Downtown, it should be no more than $20 each way. Parking costs in Downtown is usually a flat rate of $10.
