Merce In Miami

Attention! Atención! Achtung! Attenzione! Oppmerksomhet! Sigur Rós is playing this Sunday - tomorrow. Why am I making a big deal about this? Well, this band has flown all the way from Iceland just to perform at Merce in Miami. They wrote one of the most beautiful albums (scroll down to #2) of the 21st century. Their technique to modern instrumentation is profound considering they use the same tools as most standard rock n’ roll outfits (minus the really bad uneven indie haircuts). The only band I know that plays their guitars with bows. For those of you who haven’t checked out the new Miami Performing Arts Center (I’ll call it the Carnival Center when that company recoups all our tax dollars) this would be an opportune time. We haven’t had music this good in town in awhile, and with the looks of how the WMC line-up is shaping up you may not hear anything this good downtown for a minute. Come and support the arts! In this work each design element, including choreography, has been made in two parts either by one or two artists or in the case of the music, by two bands. The order in which each design element is presented is determined by chance procedure on the day of the performance. This performance boasts a special appearance by Sigur Rós.
