MN: How’d you guys meet and get into the whole music thing?
Mayday!: Me (Bernbiz) and Plex are the original members. We met in that huge strip mall which is Kendall. The other members are homies we met along the way in the scene.

MN: Which genres would you put yourselves under?
Mayday!:Your guess is as good as ours!! Some call it hip hop, some call it electronica, others indie/rock…we just like to think it’s new shit. That’s all. Tryin to define Mayday! under anything else than dope music is really just insulting the listeners intelligence. We got a lil for everybody. Some people wear their influences on their sleeves like badges of honor… that’s never worked for us. We got more of a crash and burn approach to music.  
 
 
MN: What outlook do you have on the local scene here?
Mayday!:Great question…It’s nothing like what it used to be, yet never changes…if that makes any sense…there’s a ton of new exciting artists coming out, yet the same old haterz lurkin about…
What I love about it is that if you got talent it’s a relatively easy place to get recognized.

MN: How do you gentlemen feel about music blogs?
Mayday!:Any excuse to talk about dope shit with random strangers and haters alike sounds like fun to me.

MN: Favorite kind of bottle to pop in the club?
Mayday!:Patron patron patron patron patron. Did I mention patron?
 
MN: Any acts you feel we should look out for?
Mayday!:Locals? Too many to name!!! There’s a lot of serious talent here...on a national scale I been fuckin with Janelle Monae, Chin Chin, Dap Kings…etc. so much stuff…

MN: Video games or board games?
Mayay!: I fucks with that new monopoly with the debit cards…genius!! Not to mention a soft spot for Clue… but in terms of video games come check me in Mario Kart! Mayday!:You’ll get left in the dust.. That is, if the red turtle shell doesn’t flip you on your ass 1st!
 
MN: Anything behind the name and the exclamation point?
Mayday!:The name MAYDAY! has always held in innate urgency to us..on some fleeting youth shit…the exclamation points are just an extention of that.
 
MN: How’s the night at jazid going?
Mayday!:MAYDAY! Jazid Night is growing by leaps and bounds! A year and a half in and the party is still packed every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. Our goal this year is to have a line around the block every show.
 
MN: Favorite kind of blunt to roll up them trees in?
Mayday!:Well most of us stopped smoking L’s a few months ago..Had a serious addiction to them thangs. But when I DID partake a vanilla dutch was my weapon of choice. I’m legendary in the blunt game son! So trust me, even havin this convo has got me fiendin for a toke!
