Let's Go Bobmo!!!

Faux real? No really, there's this new kid on the Parisian block who's been getting crazy blog action all this month. Partly because he's young, something like 19. But mainly because he's down with VICE and on Institubes I. So I thought to myself "Why not? I can’t fight the BLOGSPHERE." Let's go Bobmo and check his shit out!

Bobmo's LP is playfully titled Let's Go Bobmo. It's basically a Playstation2 promo for sweaty palm teenage boys without girlfriends. So you can imagine the sound must be pretty noisy. I'm picturing really rich first-year European college students playing his record in their dorm while trying to figure out which neon belt to wear to the Discotech -- hot pink or lime green? Hmm.

His first single "Home Alone" has a housy feel to it that I'm sure you'll hear on any innovative dance floor. The second single "To the Bobmobile" was a bit too unadulterated for me. I got bored with all his loops immediately after the build up. I guess Bobmo took too much Addies! Tweek Tweek. But I suppose four gin & tonics into an evening I'd lost all my New England inhibitions and start dancing around to the Bobmobile. Generally speaking, I like his sound. It's playful and his approach to electronic dance music isn't new but it's invigorating and fun. Especially in a smileless, blackwearing I-think-I'm-way-too-kewl-for-skool kind of world.

I was checking out some video clips of Bobmo and found this one of him and Surkin thowing down at some party. I like Surkin. Check this shit out with him and his "dangling cigarette!"

So on a video game tip there's a group of NYC kids/DJs/producers who put out a complication last year of Kraftwerk covers all done using gaming systems (HOT HUH) titled "8 Bit Operators." RYLE7 gives it two thumbs up and triple high five.
