Ladies & Booty Bass (Update)

I remember this one time back in the summer of ’89 I was kickin it in the back of the bus with my latest issue of the Uncanny X-Men. And I noticed a bunch of older cool kids jamming out a few seats in front of me to this rather hot electro funk drum beat. I was too embarrassed to ask the cool kids what they were listening too so I continued with my comic book. Months later I remember the “Cars that Go Boom” traxxx was playing again on some local radio station.

L’Trimm was the Miami based Hip hop duo composed of industry vet The Lady Tigra (Rachel De Rougemont) and her gal pal, Bunny D. (Elana Cager). Most of you reading this know both girls are from Kendall, Florida (represent, represent). Their second LP “Drop That Bottom” earned them a lot of hip hop fame and recognition in the early 90s but the success was very limited. Years later while record shopping I actually found the original single on vinyl of the “Cars That Go Boom” and still own it.

So where are the girls now? Well Bunny D. got married and has four kids. And the Lady went to NYC to work it out the way most do by becoming a dj and producer.

The Lady Tigra is back though! And she brought the ruckus and subwoofers to a dance floor near you in 2007 with her new LP Bass on the Bottom. I’m in love with the title traxxx! The new sound is contemporary but still has that ole skool edge. And the years have been sooo good to her too. She's still hot as ever!

Travis of Big Stereo fame posted a few weeks back about The Lady’s new LP and boasted that “Avenue D, Amanda Blank, FannyPack, Roxy Cottontail and even Uffie owe a lot to The Lady.” I couldn’t agree more!

The video for “Bass on the Bottom” has this killer Foxy Brown inspired opening scene (thats the blaxapilation film from '74...not the crazy Blackberry throwing rapper of '07..haha) followed by more crazy Boogie Nights inspired pool party fun fest scenes. I nearly lost it when the break dancing Ninjas busted a move towards the end of the video too. Both music and video production for “Bass on the Bottom” are amazing. The bass parts are so ghetto tech inspired, completely dirty and utterly groovy! Its enought to make your tits spin. Check it out!

Update(B.A.C.): I hope Ryle doesn't mind but I ran into a dope remix of 'Bass on the Bottom' by the 80Kidz and figured I may as well give you more banging music to listen to at work.
