Introducing Miami Nights community blogs!

After what feels like ten trillion hours of work, our beta of Community Blogs is now available for your use. Yes, that means you'll get to share the stage with such lovable losers at Thomas Lackner and Dooran. I'm sure you're tired of hearing our opinions anyway, since they are usually completely wrong; now you can correct us in front of all of our peers! How embarrassing for us..

To get started, login as yourself and click "My Blog" on the right of the page. You'll be able to create new posts and see the beautiful results of your arduous labor. Your new posts will appear on the main Miami Nights homepage, near the footer. You can also change the colors of your blog by editing your profile. It's fancy, I know..

Many bugs await you in the CBlogs. But don't worry, we'll fix them eventually. You can't upload photo galleries yet but that's step two. Get ready!

This feature is dedicated to Pimp C. RIP.

cool...a forum
Oh I'd watch your back now, 'cause Lackner is going to get you for calling his community blogs a forum. I can't bend my right thumb after I called the MiamiNights magenta color fuchsia.

Hi Lackner, hats off to you for continuing to add new features to your site. But I don't see a community of new blogs in the footer. Also, I clicked the "New Post" button, but got an error message.

Are you worried that by regulating the new blogs to the footer, you are discouraging your community to grow?

Users already have to scroll past 2 aggressive ad blocks to get to the main content. Think about how much more scrolling they'll have to do. If you ask me, positioning the blogs in the footer sends the wrong message.

Personally, I found MiamiNights easier (and more fun) to navigate when you had all off the footer links in the right column.
MB,

Thanks for the considerate thoughts.

The only reason I haven't put the cblogs in the right column is I was hoping putting them in a wider area (bottom of column 1) would actually be better exposure. On Destructoid.com (another site I'm involved with) we have a whole right-side mini cblogs area, which I felt was actually isolating them too much from the regular post flow.

You're probably right, though, when you put it in that light. I'll reconsider and perhaps move them to above the leaderboard.

Ya MB, any feedback is great! As mentioned it is a work in progress but we hope it will be a new way for everyone in the night life community to interact and present events and so forth.
