I know right... ugh... another photo site for people to get all riled up about and talk abut all thos celeb-obssesed hipser flashin... OH WAIT HERE COMES THE PHOTOG!

I get what you guys are saying, but this is common place in every major nightlife city. There are people who like to take nightlife pics, there are people who love to pose for those pics. Theres enough demand out there to have your millisecond of fame to supply websites and photogs.

what are the other 'hipster' party pic sites that people actually check though? we don't really have that many that are actually active, do we? jipsy does way more event photography these days, you guys stopped doing photos, so i can really only think of a couple others dedicated to what these people are complaining about. actually i'm not really playing devil's advocate so much as curious for a real answer, because there ARE 910823749172 photogs everywhere but it doesn't seem like there are any sites right now that are really talked about. where are all those photos going?!

I've seen tons of misc guys, but the only active ones I know of are Chipi for CoolJunkie, The Popness Party, and 8mts.com.

Honestly the traffic speaks for itself. People love this shit, stupid though it may be.

What was the impetus for you guys quitting the snaps game on MiamiNights?

A few reasons:

1. Camera equipment is very expensive and some damage/lossage when doing nightlife photog is just a fact of life

2. We got bored running around the club talking to boring or obnoxious strangers, compared to just hanging out and having fun

3. I've found that on weeks when we post a lot of pics, the quality of the site goes down; 0 comments for the week, no user signups, etc. I want this site to be a community, so the extra traffic from the photos is less important than the quality discussion we get when we post fewer photos.

4. As a hobby and intellectual interest, I find the use of video to be more interesting than photography. I feel like that's the next wave, where we should be. So far it's proving to be difficult though.

We may start again, eventually, but for the time being I feel good.

I'm certainly not a hipster photographer, but I can relate to the equipment thing Thomas speaks of. Occasionally you will mess something up in the course of your travels through clubland.

Everything from compositions (like snippets of memorable moments from a given night, high speed or low speed stuff) to video interviews to planned segments (like a podcast). I have a lot of ideas and almost nothing to show for it as usual.

Well we need a camera to show anything for it really.....Soon enough, soon enough!
