If this Room is a Rockin', Don't Come a Knockin'

By now we should all be informed of the terrible news concerning Studio A. Yes yes, it's shutting down. And with Studio A soon seizing to exist, will we now be forced to succumb to battling through Miami highways -- and developing a higher level of driving Tourette's by way of it -- crossing county lines, and wasting a "mutharfucker!" amount of gas just to get to a show at Culture Room or Revolution?

Not if this girl can help it.

So if you are like me, and shows are your thing then rejoice in the fact that there is still good live music to attend to. Actually, if you start thinking about it, Miami has a decent range of venues of all sizes from the American Airlines Arena (which, by the way, I expect every single one of you to already have your Celine Dion tix, she's coming January 23, uh huh), to PS14, which let me tell you, their stage size can be quite deceiving. Now that I think of all the venue possibilities for shows down here, I'm starting to wonder why most bands just play at Ft. Lauderdale. If anyone can give me a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon, I would be quite thankful.

Aside from the venues, Miami is also filled with loads of local music talent, and lots of them happen to conveniently be musically talented -- go figure! So I say that we give NY and LA a run for their money and make the Miami music scene go "BANG!"

With this just said (cue the guitar)

Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a girl of wealth and taste. I've been around for a long long year. Stole many a man's soul and faith. Sup I'm DynamiteGirl and I have chosen to be your informer of shows and most things awesome (whether they be local or touring). I freaking love music, specially the good kind. And don't fret 'cause if theres some sort of holy-mother-of-bob-I-will-travel-4-hours-to see-them! type of show I shall also let you know. Good night and good luck.

Studio A is being bought out, the people buying it are fully aware that it's the only live music venue south of Ft. L, and from what I know they want to keep it a live music venue (i know because I was the office manager for Studio A till someone died, and now the club along with it). So really I have high hopes that the new guys know what their doing, lets hope so because putting down a million dollars with no idea what your getting into would be pretty stupid. So I'm optimistic :) Oh! and bands flock to Ft L because the crowds are much bigger and the club owners alot nicer. sucks i know.
miami really needs to get of it's ass and bring back the funk.

omg!
Another reason a lot of shows don't make it all the way down here is because Miami is geographically inconvenient. The tours that do make their way down here usually either start or end here. By booking a show in a more "central" location (i.e. WPB, FTL) you'll still manage to pull in the central and south Florida crowds. But lets give credit to The Fillmore for also doing their part in bringing good acts to Miami. We've got Modest Mouse and My Morning Jacket on the way!
Hey at least we aren't Hawaii :-\

Regardless of it's non-acoustic friendly area, let's not forget about that little stadium we also have.

YAY! MADONNA!! YAY!!!

lets not forget the clubs like Studio A, Culture Room and Revolution also have much more complex and sophisticated sound systems with much better equipment especially when you have bands that use very complex electronics and backing tracks....

Studio A was actually one of the nicest venues that I have played live in, additionally alot of members from other bands who toured and stopped at the A also said the sound was better then CR and Rev myself included (Culture Room sound guys are the worst). Its a shame.
