Hi, excuse me Mr. Bouncer. We're from Miami Nights

How To Get Into Clubland - Rule #3 - Name Drop

It’s kinda sad this is how Club politics work, but hey who are we to complain. A good door policy can make or break a night. There’s a reason there are lines for Mynt, Nocturnal, Prive etc etc. Because generally they admit only the beautiful and affluent (or people willing to pay the ridiculous door price). If you don’t like it then go to the Groove and hang with the UMtards or check out this place called Club Deep. As for us, we’ll see you inside.

Way it works. To quote one of my doorstaff friends: "Seriously, I don't care!"
it depends of the person at the door. i can tell when i can intimidate/fool someone at the door into letting me in. Not by being agressive, but by "swearing so-and-so put me on the list, i mean if they just go back there and ask them." its gotta be the right mixture of politeness and assertiveness. then again, thanks to this blog, its getting easier and easier to go anywhere i want to go (not to sound cocky, its just true).
Ghost of Miami Nights Past
[...] Upon arriving at the Nikki entrance I immediately noticed that the door was swamped with white and gold patrons clamoring to get in. “Were on the guest list don’t worry” I told my date as she looked at me in despair with the thought of having to actually wait outside a club for the first time in her life. After snaking our way to the velvet ropes and stating arrogantly that WE were on the guestlist as media the bouncer, whose name was Angel, casually looked at us and said, “Ok, I’ll be right with you”, which translated in the nightlife dictionary means F_ck off. After patiently waiting for 5 minutes I began to notice NOBODY was being let in, except for some guy who seemed important telling the bouncers that “these people and those people” were coming in. So I approached the person who was obviously the gate keeper and informed him that I was part of the media and that I was supposed to be inside covering the event. After what seemed like another “f_ck off” look I decided to name drop and mentioned my Tara Inc. contact. In no time we were being whisked into Nikki, leaving the throng of losers behind. Who said name dropping didn’t work? [...]
