Gallery: Fresh Faces by GenArt

When I go to fashion events, the main players, meaning fashion people, are so stuck on themselves that my eyes glaze over the second they open they’re mouths. What comes out 99.999999% of the time is popcorn, bullshit and some mention of the Prada sunglasses they’re wearing after dark.

Thankfully, GenArt wasn’t as air-kissy as I thought it would be. People were nice and the show, held at the very posh Flamingo was beautiful.

I will admit that none of the designers were ground-breaking. There were no new Alexander McQueen's crowned on Saturday. Or Vivan Westwoods. But fashion, like all art forms, is in the eyes of the beholder (or the bank accounts of the investors). Over the top might just be too over the heads of the certain few who run GenArt but that's okay. At the end of the day, we can't all butter our toast the same way.

My favorite designer out of the bunch was Bogosse. Finally a line of men’s clothing that kicks it back to the old Don Johnson/Miami Vice era. I dig a man in pastels and they were all over the Bogosse runway.

In general, influences for the clothing ran the gamut: from the aforementioned Miami Vice; to Gothic and Amish; to rock and roll meets Catholic schoolgirl (yawn). I even saw a little Sheena Easton up there with the H. Fredriksson line. Fredriksson, from New York, was giving you oversized blouses and lots of metallics - all that was needed was the Sheena Easton/Prince song from 1984 called “You’ve got the look.” Fredriksson also stood out from the group. I knew the line had it when a man in Prada sunglasses told me that he thought her lined "sucked" and that his favorite show of the night was Maya (swimwear). Gee, models in bikinis....what a big surprise. Almost as shocking as learning (as I did that night) that Dontella Versace's daughter has anorexia.

Once again, a big thank you to the folks at Cece Feinberg for giving Miami Nights a warm welcome and the invitation to a party with free alcohol. 99.999999 meaningful air kisses to you!

About this photo >> Oh my, here's the geisha-samurai guy that tried to steal a candle and was going behind the cash register counter looking for free
booze at a private West Elm event. True story. I got ripped a new one a few posts ago by his friends for me calling him a loser. BTW I also agree
with what Ms. Wrangler has to say, glad to know I'm not the only one who considers the garments at the fashion show whatever.
Oh, its Lady Wrangler, not Ms. Wrangler like the other poster wrote.
