Funk from Rio
The Brazilian trio , Bonde Do Role been making a lot noise this year, and the kids are popping up on everyone’s top 2007 act list. They even made it on the cover of Fader Magazine this month with Lil Wayne. The With Lasers LPs been out for a while now, but curiously I’ve noticed I never really hear them out in Miami. Living in South Florida is a lot like living in North South America, so I figured I’d hear ‘em blasting on every intersection.
Some are arguing the Bonde kids are lacking a good club version of their tunes. But if you check out CSS they have a fun version of “Office Boy”. But that’s all I could find that I liked in Remixland. The album edits are great though. I like to think the hot Bonde do Role mix out right now is a 2 liter of pineapple favor Fanta, a handle of Grey Goose and my uncle Ricky’s ole skool boom box circa ‘86. Add a gang of 14-year-old b-boys and shake & pop! Bullya!
