FORECLOSED

Today a deputy clerk for Dade County served my ass with papers summoning my landlord. Aparently, my roommate and I paying her $2,000 a month wasn't enough to keep her ass out of trouble. She has defaulted on her $398,400 loan, which she only had to pay $2,356 a month. Bitch is stupid, maybe I don't know the whole story but I'm sort of pissed. Luckily the clerk said that a foreclosure takes about six months and my lease is up in March. I hope I get my deposit back, if not that bitch is going to have another lawsuit on her hands.

Anyway, if anyone wants a deal on a three-story townhouse in Coconut Grove, I let you know the address after I move out -- I don't want anyone stalking my ass.

Bad news, dude. You might want to throw $100 bucks at a lawyer for 10 minutes worth of advice before you pay that last month's rent. If she's stiffing the mortgage company, she won't think twice about shooting the grease to you. He may advise you to pay the last month's rent to an "escrow account" just so you'll have some bargaining power to get your deposit back. Just a thought.
Even the call-girls are hanging-up on me...

I already paid last months rent when I moved in. January was the last month I had to pay for, and I did that two weeks ago. But I'm going to get my deposit back, you better believe it.

The other way to look at it is: stop paying rent and you can stay until the foreclosure not paying rent along the way. Or, if you want to be aboveboard, speak to the owner now about returning the deposit. If she cries poverty, ask her if she, in exchange, will not make a stink if you stay till June rent free. It isn't clear she has any right to make a stink or collect rent at this time anyway!

Holy molies. My landlord is about to get foreclosed as well, I'm just waiting for that knock on the door.

He's a total fuck up so I am almost positive I'm going to have some trouble getting my deposit back as well. Keep us posted on your plans, plz. My brother is well-versed in that kind of shit, so I'll post back with his advice as well.
