WMC Saturday Suggestions

I'm gonna make this short. I was not blessed with the ablity to rant like Lackner nor the ability to coerce under age girls so here are your Saturday night WMC suggestions:

  • Get Physical Miami @ Studio K (formerly Studio A) featuring: M.A.N.D.Y vs Booka Shade, Matthew Dear, AudioFly, Italoboyz and more. In our my opinion the best ongoing party during WMC for the past few years. Don't believe me? See last years Get Physical Miami for yourself.
  • Fool's Gold @ The White Room featuring: A-Trak, Nick Catchdubs, DJ Mehdi, LA Riots and many more. It's FREE. Do yourself a favor and listen to us.
  • Sasha @ Shine in the Shelborne Hotel. I know generally we don't endorse trance but Sasha is a legend. Just do it if you are afraid of the homeless in Downtown Miami.

Have fun and be safe! And remember, just cause a panhandler is literate doesn't mean they aren't out to get ya....Ha just kidding, Miami is truly safer Sarajevo. Really.....

WMC Friday Suggestions

WMC rolls into Friday with more amazing acts. Are you dead yet? I hope not. I sort of am.

Spectral Sound @ Glass: Audion, Kate Simko, Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Konrad Black. More info and tickets.

Erol Alkan @ Vagabond: Whoa. Amazingly talented and eccentric DJ/producer Erol Alkan with friends Dave P, JDH, and Riton, to say nothing of Late of the Pier. And Rye Rye for some reason. More information and tickets.

Crosstown Rebels @ Electric Pickle: Afterhours at Electric Pickle! Demigods Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones, Clive Henry. More info and tickets.

If you see me out, poke me with a stick to ensure that I am alive and not just a warm corpse. Thank you.

WMC Suggestions: March 25th - A Party Worth Blogging About

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!~ There's nothing like free in this recession laden world we now find ourselves in. The good people of Eatskeet.com and Hipster Runoff are throwing "A Party Worth Blogging About" and the lineup is incredible.

The event is today and kicks off at 11am to 6pm on the Ganesvoort South Rooftop Pool. WMC'ers can expect to run into Rony Alwin (ronysphotobooth), Bronques of lastnightsparty.com, and Mark at the Cobrasnake. For you hipsters this must be a dream come true. Imagine you can be one of the regretful many that find themselves half naked online after a day of binging. Take some time to throw your feces stained American Apparel underwear away now before reading the lineup. We wouldn't want you uncomfortable in any way. You can RSVP for this FREE event by going to EatSkeet.com/RSVP and listen to a sample mix of the music you will be drinking to that day from the MN player below (Tacklisting after the jump). The mix is courtesy of Eatskeet.com. Check out this lineup for the day:

  • Felix Cartal
  • Acid Girls
  • Ocelot
  • Le Castlevania
  • Skeet Skeet
  • Nick Catchdubs
  • Tittsworth
  • Designer Drugs
  • LA Riots
  • Franki Chan

For entire list of DJs click the thumbnail up top. Also, I'm not certain I like such colorful flyers. Also, how long are each DJs sets gonna be? Not sure I like events with so many Djs squished into one event...Also, I'm not sure I really know much about anything.

WMC Suggestions: March 25th - Mansion <3 Electro

Our readers know we lean towards Electro on this blog so it's fitting Mansion has arguably the best electro lineup tonight for WMC. The lineup is pretty sick with Benny Benassi, Calvin Harris (dj set), The Bloody Beetroots, Sneaky Sound System LIVE, Joachim Garraud, LA Riots and Don Rimini spinning the dirtiest electro this side of the Miami River. Tickets for this event are $30 and can be purchased here. Arrive early as the line for Mansion for these events is usually 200 deep. If I am not mistaken it is also the album launch party for The Bloody Beetroots, so expect to hear a lot of new ass shaking, spleen shattering grittiness.

Your WMC Reviews and Stories

Sadly this year I will not be able to make it out to WMC until Thursday night. As much as I would like to be in a drunken stupor for an entire week this year I must acquiesce to the corporate forces and go to sleep early like a good caged monkey. That does not mean I don't want to hear your stories and reviews. The best way to get your voice out is to create your own Miami Nights community blog, but if you're too lazy or mentally impaired retarded the go ahead and leave a comment.

Either way your experiences are always more colorful than those of the "critics" so we look forward to reading your dribble.

WMC Suggestions: RokBar

RokBar is a personal favorite for both Lackner and myself. With many drunken and sweaty nights courtesy of RokBar we gladly bring you their WMC events. For all you visitors from outside South Florida RokBar is South Beach's premier Rock like club. Filled with a slew of crowds, from your typical SoBe douche to your typical Downtown Miami douche, you get the best of all Miami worlds. RokBar also underwent some remodeling a few months ago adding some much needed decor.

Anyhow take it from us at Miami Nights, RokBar is a great place to party. Below are the Rokbar Events. Thursday and Saturday Night look SICK! A-Trak, Craze and Klever on Thursday then Cut Copy, the Presets and Tommie Sunshine on Saturday is just gonna make for some ridiculous partying. All events are $20 at the door before Midnight. After midnight ticket prices will be go up depending on capacity. Also on Saturday and Sunday Rokbar will be open till 7am.

WMC Suggestions: Sunday School for Degenerates @ Ice Palace

In my opinion this is clearly the best WMC closing party. With an incredible lineup set this is the place to be for your final drunken cracked out binge. Lackner and I have visited the the past few Sunday Schools and they never disappoint. There is nothing like seeing a mass of zombies still able to function completely. This years sunday school is taking place at Ice Palace as our beloved Pawn Shop is no longer in existence.I wonder if this years event will be outdoors like the past. Anyhow I attached some tracks for Onur Ozer who will be spinning an exclusive set. This guy is spreading like herpes in Europe with his very unique style of minimal. If anything it's worth going for just this dude.

Sunday School tickets will be valid for the full 24 hours and include a re-entry wristband. Get the party started right: Come by early to pick up your wristband and have a Degenerate drink on the house during the early OPEN BAR (11pm-12am). The Ice Palace is located close to the nightclub district, so you can make the rounds. Or, like a true Degenerate, stay for the duration as class will be in session all night and day, with a line-up that is sure to school you.

WMC suggestions: DIM MAK Events

{{photo:right:24156}}

Steve Aoki has been a staple club DJ since the revolver days and continues to frequent Miami to spin at many SoBe clubs. This year the trust fund baby is bringing along his Dim Mak label and hordes of Djs to The Fontainebleau resort for two killer events. On Thursday, March 26th, Dim Mak will be at Blade restaurant with:

  • The Bloody Beetroots
  • Steve Aoki
  • Armand Van Helden
  • Stretch Armstrong
  • Felix Cartal
  • etc..etc...

On Friday night, March 27th, same venue but with a different lineup Aoki will be spinning alongside some far larger more nationally known DJs like:

  • DJ AM
  • Jazzy Jeff
  • Discotech

The Fontainebleau is located at 4441 Collins Avenue. If you are attending any of these events arrive early as there is always a wait for these larger events no matter if you have a ticket already or not. Click on fliers for a big readable image.

WMC Suggestions: March 26th DJ Enferno

Featured on the cover of DJ Times Magazine and in numerous other media outlets, DJ Enferno takes time off from touring with Madonna to give a special performance at the Gansevoort South during WMC. As one of only five bandmembers on Madonna's "Sticky & Sweet World Tour," Enferno has played to over a million people worldwide on more than 60 international dates. Enferno is also a former U.S. DMC champ (turntablist) and an outstanding club DJ in his own right. This party takes place at the Plunge pool at the Gansevoort. Bring your speedo's and nighttime sunglasses you drug addled kids. Event details below:

Thursday, March 26, 2009 (WMC)
11pm - 2am (Please arrive by 10pm)

WMC Suggestions: March 26th Bacardi B-Live

Remember last year B-Live was at Bayfront Park? And the year before that the same? Drawing huge crowds and giving away free tickets the events were pretty successful. This year Bacardi B-Live is going for a different model. In these hard economic times I can't say I disagree with the decision. This year B-Live takes place in Blade at The Fontainebleau kicking off a 24 city tour right here in Miami.

Spinning at B-Live this year is Toronto based duo; MSTRKRFT, Fool's Gold label head and Kanye West DJ; A-Trak, Mad Decent label head; Diplo, electronic musician known for styles of breakbeat, house and dubstep; Drop the Lime, New York based dance music producer and remixer; DJ Steve Porter, and infamous DJ best known for his early career with Will Smith; DJ Jazzy Jeff. For you afternoon WMC party crowd you can't really ask for a better line up.

The event runs from 3-9pm which means you can come directly to the Miami Nights 3 year anniversary party and experience Diplo, Kid Sister and a host of other artists once your through with Blade. The first 200 WMC Badge holders can get free tickets by going to the B-Live website

Thurs, March 26: Our 3 Year Anniversary featuring Diplo, Chromeo, and Kid Sister

Ah yes, "conveniently" Miami Nights anniversary party falls on the same week as WMC and as such we find someone crazy enough to throw a party with us to celebrate. This year the good people of Contagious Musiq have agreed to look past Lackner's penchant for underage young women to work with us on throwing what will be one of WMC's most promising party's. If you have never been to a MN anniversary then you have no clue what you are missing.

The past few years were a hot mess filled with stickers on body parts, fellow MN cohorts stumbling uncontrollably and throwing champagne glasses, great DJs and incredible atmosphere. If you don't believe then refer to MN Anniversary gallery here, here and here. If those galleries aren't enough to convince you how lascivious our anniversary is then I don't know what will. This year Miami Nights will celebrate it's 3 year anniversary at SoHo Studios with musical libations of:

    Room 1
    Chromeo dj set
    Kid Sister (WMC exclusive)
    Diplo
    Amanda Blank (WMC exclusive)
    Ludachrist (wmc exclusive)
    Stretch Armstrong
    Junior Sanchez
    Afrobeta
    Hydroz
    Pusher FM + Sean Weeks

      Room 2
      Wale
      Kidz in the Hall
      Pac Div
      J*Davey
      Killa Kela
      Hollywood Holt
      Million $ Mano
      Mickey Factz
      U-N-I
      Roxy Cottontail
      Eli Escobar
      Mayday
      Hey Champ
      Artofficial
      Lex One

What makes a great party is not only the top acts (Diplo, Chromeo and Kid Sister) but also the fact that this line up includes some home grown talent. Mayday, Artofficial and Afrobeta are all well known local acts that promise to put on a great spin to this already great line up. It wouldn't be a proper anniversary either if we weren't giving away free tickets to the event. In the coming days you will be able to sign up to win free tickets to the event. If you don't win you can still buy ticket here. Stay tuned to Miami Nights for more details. SoHo Studios is located at 2136 NW 1st Ave in Wynwood.

Winter Music Conference Events

Hello all. We have been way behind when it comes to WMC coverage thus far but the people throwing killer parties have not. If you notice in the right sidebar we provide you clubs, bars, hotels, promoters and anything else industry related a way to post your events for free. Click the Post Your Event link on the right sidebar to start.

These events show up on their very own page which makes it very google search friendly. You will also see the post in the section labeled Community Blogs. So feel free to submit your events for the Miami Nights listing. Be aware that we do double check each post prior to making it live on the page to weed out the jokers. This is a great opportunity though to spread the word on your event. Take advantage.

The Electric Pickle - Formerly Circa 28

I don't really care much for the new name, but I always liked the venue. The venue formerly known as Circa28 returns as the Electric Pickle with a pretty interesting all day event brought to you by the fun loving people of SAFE. The daytime to evening party will have the likes of LEE CURTISS, RYAN CROSSON, SHAUN REEVES, MARCASHKEN,DROOG,MATT TOLFREY,WOLF + LAMB spinning. The event takes place from 10am - Midnight. That's right you cracked out fiends. You can party from the time you wake up till you run outta drugs. Limited early bird tickets available here. Click thumbnail for larger image.

p.s. WHAT THE FUK IS WIT THAT NAME?!?!?!?!

pps: Lil Lackner brings up a good point in the comments. This is during WMC. Specifically March 25th. Happy??!!!

Ultra Phase II Announced

Phase II has been announced and it looks like a good one. Aside from the yearly regular Paul Van Dyk I like that Moby will be spinning and Prodigy headlining. We got to see Moby spin at Studio A a few years ago and let me tell you he tore the shit down. Nothing like his produced MTV music. Moby spun a long, hard, deep set including a variety of all EDM genres. Truly an amazing show. I believe the Ultra peeps are finally understanding that they need to make sure they have a diverse product as opposed to the usual repackaged crap they have had for years on end. Good for you Ultra.

SECOND NIGHT HEADLINER THE PRODIGY AND AUSTRALIA'S PENDULUM ALONG WITH APPEARANCES BY DJ TITANS PAUL VAN DYK AND ARMIN VAN BUUREN, PLUS AN EXCLUSIVE SET FROM MOBY

Is there anyone on the lineup still missing that you would like to see? Let us know in the comments. I would love to see some Onur Ozer, Oxia, Marc Houle and Ricardo Villalobos to name a few. For the time being though I am pretty happy with the current lineup. You can still purchase tickets for $129 (additional fees not included obviously) for both days. Get em while they are still moderately priced. Click the thumbnail for a full sized image of the lineup.

ULTRA Tickets on Sale

Not much word on a lineup yet but ULTRA tickets are already on sale for $99 for both days, VIP $350. That's a pretty sweet early bird deal. Only a limited amount of tickets are available at this price so if your a junkie for repeat acts then jump on this (Am I being to pessimistic to early about the lineup?). Not included however is EMT services in the likely case you will OD by the close of day 2. If you have any insider deetz on the schedule feel free to comment. Better yet, who do you think Ultra should book? Keep in mind I'm looking for acts that haven't graced the Ultra stages every effing year like clockwork.
