Today in Miami..

Play it Live - Bill O'Reilly [DiscoTech RMX] aka Danny Daze, Joe Maz & Gigamesh

Friend of the site and has been tennis master Danny Daze and his counterparts Gigamesh and Joe Maz from the duo trio Discotech bring us a gem of a track mixed in with the now infamous and always wingnutty Farce News host Bill O'Reilly. The track seems short so I know this isn't full length. When you get a chance Daze, forward it over to us! Enjoy:

Thursday Thuggin: Yo Gotti - Miami (feat Rick Ross)

I've been a bit discouraged with Miami hiphop of late. Around a year ago everything devolved into the typical d-boy crap with recycled boring beats that didn't really take the art form anywhere in contrast with some earlier 305 music. However, things appear to be picking up: more artists are getting signed, and Rick Ross is flattening the rest of the industry with his new album. One example of this renaissance is this track, Miami by Young Gotti. Take a listen. It goes: "I ain't sold a million records / or won a Grammy / but I've seen a million dollars / worth of nose candy."

Sorry about the abrupt start to the track. I had to trim out Khaled hollering like a retard.

Trina shooting video at Parc Lofts today

Is this fate? Is this the invisible hand of God making itself known for one fleeting second? Years ago, I felt that Trina and I were cosmically linked when I happened to spot her baby blue Benz G500 while getting my car serviced. Now, it seems she's in my very building shooting a video for one of her new tracks. Should I invite her up for a cocktail or just propose on the spot?

The worlds largest, scariest person is also in the video. Despite my attempts at white boy hiphop knowledge, I don't recognize him. They probably hired him to cblock me.

Thursday Thuggin: Brisco - Bitch I'm Me

The music business isn't fair. In fact, I'd say the music business isn't even about music; it's about marketing. Talent doesn't mean success; some of the most gifted musicians toiled in obscurity and died as paupers.

Brisco is one of the better acts to come out of the Miami hip hop scene, but unfortunately I feel he never really got the break he deserved. He had some tracks that got play, including bit pieces on Khaled albums and popular mix tapes, but nothing that reached party success like Kia Shine or Jim Jones. Here's one of his newer efforts, Bitch, I'm Me, a somewhat predictable but very listenable 305-themed track. Take a listen.

Miami Talent Spotlight: DJ Danny Daze

My good friend Danny Daze is probably the hardest working and most underrated DJ in Miami. If you know of anyone that works more, sleeps less, and also cannot grow a beard under any circumstances, show him to me--We will have a death match. Danny won the Miami Herald's 'Best Club DJ' award for 2007, as well as The New Times' Reader's Choice Club DJ award in the Best of 2007 issue.

Among a host of production monikers, Danny is also one half of CrooklynClan.net's Discotech (DJs, this should ring some bells). As the fastest selling artist in their history, Discotech has just become the number 2 number 1 top seller on the site. If that means nothing to you, just smile and nod. Considering that achievement, and the fact that he'll probably be number one by the time you read this Is Number 1 now, I thought I might give the man some well-deserved respect.

If you haven't heard Danny play because you've been living under a large rock and only come out during season, you can catch him Friday at Cameo (upstairs in Vice), and Saturday at O Asian Grill. Amidst a sea of one night stands with ugly mediocre DJs, Danny stands out. Besides, he's now taking applications for new groupies, so get in line! (I'm going to get my ass kicked for that)

Miami Nights: What is your preferred equipment?
Danny Daze: If it's an open format set, i like to use Technic 1200's, with the TTM 57 mixer. if I'm doing an electronic set, I like to use the pioneer 1000's with the pioneer 800. As far as headphones go, I really don't care as long as they swivel.

Thursday Thuggin: Rocko - Umma Do Me (Rick Ross, Jeezy, Tip Remix)

It goes "my money, how ya doing? it's gettin jealous cuz I keep on adding to it.."

This is the kind of flow that Rick Ross needs to bring on a consistent basis to maintain the hype he gained from his first album. Turn the speakers up.

Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders

Is there any doubt as to which football team in te nation has the hottest cheerleaders? HELL NO. Walking through Publix today I caught a glimpse of the 2008 Dolphin Cheerleader Swimsuit Calendar and it stopped me in my tracks. I've already put my order down. Click the link above and check out Ashton, Ariana and Christina to name a few. Finsnation has some video's of the beauties here. Oh, and check Iveiry (by far the hottest IMO).

Miami: Party City USA

Not that we needed any vindication but Maxim Magazine has voted Miami the #1 Party city in the USA. As citizens of this wonderfully narcissistic society we cherish and love, we always knew no other city in the nation could compare to our hedonistic, drug adoring tendencies. The surprise inclusion however is Tampa at #6.

Kudos to the clubs, strip joints and promoters up in the bay area who are trying to make Tampa a party capital. Don't get your hopes up though boyoz because the chance you will ever be as "fun" and "hip" as us 305'ers is non-existent. Congrats Miami, continue your reckless ways with no remorse for future healthy lives. You can rest assured we here at Miami Nights won't.

Thursday Thuggin: PM - Bottles In The Air

You can draw your own conclusions on this one. I'm undecided. The video is beautiful but the beat feels like it lacks a certain dirty substance. On the other hand, a song that works in the club and a song that works on my laptop are often very different things. I don't even know enough about PM to say whether this track has legs. Listen to it, you make the market.

UM v FSU: Memorable showdowns

The Hurled put together a great piece on the top 10 most memorable games between the two interstate rivals. Anyone who lives in Miami (with the exception of Gator fans) knows that these games were truly the greatest ever televised. No other rivalry commanded such attention within the College Football nation. Each game between these teams virtually determined the BCS Championship for decades. Nowadays though this is not the case. Both teams will face each other unranked for the first time since 1977 this Saturday in Tallahassee. That speaks volumes about how dominant, important and great FSU and The U are to the history of college football. Gave me chills remembering all those great games and the endless replays of wide right kicks or swatted balls in the endzone..brrrrrr.... Here are a few of my favorites from the article:
1991
UM 17, FSU 16 (Tallahassee)

Pitting No. 1 FSU against No. 2 Miami in a showdown of unbeatens, no meeting had greater buildup. Or perhaps greater drama -- undecided until Gerry Thomas' 34-yard field goal sailed wide right for FSU as time expired.

The kick missed by perhaps a foot -- so close that Bobby Bowden trotted onto the field thinking he'd won until he saw UM players celebrating across the way. Ironically, it was the first year of an NCAA rule change pushing the goalposts closer together.

UM scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, capped by Larry Jones' 1-yard TD burst with 3:01 left.

1987
UM 26, FSU 25 (Tallahassee)

For the second time in eight years, the Seminoles went for two with less than a minute left. The end result was the same, as UM's Bubba McDowell swatted down Danny McManus' pass for Pat Carter with 42 seconds left.

Steve Walsh fired three TD passes in the final 16 minutes -- including a 73-yarder to Michael Irvin with 2:22 left -- as the Hurricanes climbed out of a 19-3 hole. That score was set up when Bennie Blades recovered a McManus fumble at the UM 11.

2000
UM 27, FSU 24 (Miami)

Commonly labeled ''Wide Right III'' -- FSU freshman Matt Munyon missed a 49-yard field goal as time expired -- it also is remembered as the coming of age for UM quarterback Ken Dorsey.

Trailing 24-20 with 97 seconds left, the skinny soph orchestrated a seven-play, 68-yard drive that ended with a 13-yard TD pass to tight end Jeremy Shockey. Dorsey finished with 328 yards passing and broke the UM record of 123 passes without being intercepted.
